JOHN OKAFOR is the CEO of G.Husb Enterprise located at Ugbolu.
He hails from Ika North East Local Government Area and holds a B.Sc, M.Sc and is about to complete his Ph.D in Economics from the University of Benin.
Okafor is a focused and an enterprising young man who in spite of being a fulltime student gives time to running an integrated farm enterprise.
He practices Poultry, Piggery and Crop Productions. He enrolled in YAGEP as a brown beneficiary in the 2019/2020 Cycle and received support in Piggery. Beyond doubt, he is a goal-getter, worthy of emulation.
His said, “I received from the State Government ₦440,000.00 for 10 pigs, two soars and eight in-pigs and the sum of ₦200,000.00 for feeding and medication as the approved support package for Brown YAGEPreneurs in Piggery Production.
Before the support, I had 30 pigs.
One year after government’s intervention, I now have over 100 pigs in my pen.
I sell pigs every two months. I want to maintain the number at 100 being the capacity of my pen and the number I can conveniently feed.
With good management, the business can feed itself.
The intervention fund was a big boost for expansion. It has yielded the desired result and I appreciate our Governor, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa for the initiative.
The programme should be sustained to encourage youths in agriculture to expand their farm enterprises. I rate YAGEP 70 percent.
I encourage Delta youths to think outside the box within our environment to find needs they can provide and survive on.”
