The Group Managing Director of Rainoil Limited, Dr. Gabriel Ogbechie, OON, is the Chairman of this year’s edition of Maris Annual Public Service lecture, Comrade Fidelis Egugbo, Secretary, Maris Trust Council, MTC, organisers of the annual lecture series has said.
According to Egugbo, the lecture shall hold at the prestigious Unity Hall, Government House, Asaba, Delta State and a financial expert cum tactical politician, Chief Sir Okenmor Fidelis Tilije, Commissioner for Finance, Delta State will deliver the lecture.
Tilije will speak on the topic, “Provision of Infrastructure As Catalyst For Growth Of Democratic Governments.”
The lecture series has become an annual ritual for those who desire to contribute positively to the development of the society; every year, topical issues are discussed as it was conceptualized to identify challenges of the society and proffer solutions to them and this year’s event shall hold on Wednesday, April 12, 2023, at 12 noon.
This year’s edition promises to be a gathering of lovers of democracy as it is coming few days to successful eight years tenure of Senator Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa as the Governor of oil-rich Delta State and shortly before ushering in a new administration in the state which will be piloted by the Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly and Governor-elect of the state, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori.
Dr. Ogbechie, a multi-billionaire, who has invested so much in the development of infrastructure around the world, will not be attending the lecture alone as he will be there with some of his bosom friends and colleagues in the oil and gas industry.

‘PROFILE OF DR. GABRIEL OGBECHIE, OON (GROUP MANAGING DIRECTOR – RAINOIL LIMITED)
Dr. Gabriel Ogbechie, OON, is the Group Managing Director of Rainoil Limited, which he founded in 1997.
He has over 30 years of direct sales, marketing and operations experience within the oil and gas space.
He oversees a large conglomerate of businesses which span across the oil and gas, financial services, agro-allied, real estate and hospitality sectors.
Over the last two decades, he has directly overseen the growth of the Group’s operations across the entire downstream value chain, comprising:
· Three ultra-modern petroleum product storage depots (50 million litre capacity multi-product depots in; Oghara-Delta State, Calabar-Cross River State and Ijegun Egba-Lagos State)
· An 8,000 metric tonne LPG storage facility in Ijegun, Lagos State
· Over 150 retail outlets spread across the country
· A fleet of over 250 petroleum product tank trucks for efficient delivery of products to our network of stations and customers across the country
In his capacity as Group Managing Director, he oversees a staff strength of over 2,000 employees. Dr. Gabriel is the Chairman of the Board of Eterna PLC as well as a Director of Globus Bank.
He is a graduate of Production Engineering from the University of Benin, Nigeria and holds an Honorary Doctorate Degree of Technology from Novena University, Nigeria.
He is a recipient of several awards including:
· National Honours Award in the rank of OON (Officer of the Order of the Niger)
· Champion Newspapers 2021 Corporate Leader of the Year Award
· Downstream Company of the Year Award at the 2020- Businessday Nigerian Business Leadership Awards
· Downstream Man of the Year Award at the 2018 Oil Trading and Logistics Conference
· Finalist at the 2014 EY Entrepreneur of the Year Award.
Among his hobbies is playing lawn tennis, which he is passionate about.
He is married to Godrey Ogbechie and they are blessed with three children.
