DELTA State has recorded more than 1, 000 COVID-19 cases according to reports by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC).
NCDC in a statement on Wednesday, said Delta recorded 166 new cases of COVID-19 bringing the tota numberl of infected persons in the state to 1,131.
Governor Ifeanyi Okowa, his wife, Edith, the Secretary to the State Government, Mr Chiedu Ebie, Commissioner for Information, Mr Charles Aniagwu, among others have tested positive to COVID-19 in the State and are presently, receiving treatment.
Newsden.com.ng investigations revealed that despite the rising cases of COVID-19 in the state, most residents were still in doubt about COVID-19 which could be the reasons for the surge.
Most markets and business places were still crowded without obedience to laid down health protocols when Newsden reporters went round some of the major towns in the state.
Most of the high ranking politicians in the State, however, have gone on self quarantine, refusing to receive any visitor no matter their status. These categories of well-to-do personalities have also refused to leave their houses for fear of getting the novel coronavirus.
