Stella Uzoma Lazarus was trained in Bead Making in the 2015/2016 STEP cycle, which was the pioneer set of the Delta State Government’s Skills Training and Entrepreneurship Training. She hails from Ika North East LGA and is a graduate in Political Science. She is the CEO of Chivin-Uzo Enterprises. Lazarus is full of business ideas; her dexterity and determination to succeed as an entrepreneur are worthy of emulation. After six years in business, she shares her experience.
“I keyed into STEP after two years of unemployment. I practiced bead making for only one year and switched over to sales of cosmetics, foot wears, clothing, jewellery and handbags when I realized that bead making was not as viable as I wanted.
“I have also diversified into the sales of Nigerian Adani rice. I have two shops. I stock and supply rice. I am making good progress.
STEP brought out the entrepreneurial abilities in me and made me gainfully engaged. Perhaps I would have been on the streets waiting for a white-collar job. I no longer depend on my husband financially, rather I support him.”
