The Governor of Delta State, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, his predecessor, Sen. Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, Deputy Governors of Bayelsa, Akwa Ibom and Benue States, Sen. Lawrence Oborawharievwo Ewhrudjakpo, Sen. Akon Eyakenyi Ph.D, and Dr Samuel Ode respectively on Sunday, joined Sir Monday Onyeme, FCA, as he marked the 60th anniversary of his birth.
The well attended event which took place in Asaba also witnessed the presence of the Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Emomotimi Guwor and members of the legislative arm of government, the Obi of Aboh, His Imperial Majesty, Obi Oputa III, members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) led by Chairman of the party in the state, Chief Solomon Arenyeka, Captains of Industry, people from the academic environment, among others.
The celebration which commenced with a thanksgiving service at St. Philip’s Anglican Church, Asaba, featured cutting of the birthday cake, among other activities.
As at the time of filing this report on Sunday night, renowned Ndokwa-born Highlife music crooner, Ishioma Ossai was thrilling the audience.
The weeklong birthday celebration of Sir Onyeme who is the Deputy Governor of Delta State, commenced with free medical outreach organised by the Monday Onyeme Foundation at Ndokwa/Ukwuani, Ika and Aniocha/Oshimili Federal Constituencies, a birthday bash organized by the Odoziani Support Group at Ibabu, Onicha-Ukwuani, among other activities.
Chairman, PDP, Ward 5, Aniocha North Local Government Area of Delta State, Mr. Obi Francis, described the celebration as unique, noting that the Deputy Governor has made his mark as a philanthropist and as a politician that can be trusted.
Also, Chief Patrick Ogelenya, the Executive Assistant to Governor Sheriff Oborevwori on Chieftaincy Matters, stated that it was good that people from different parts of the country came out to celebrate with the Deputy Governor.
