AS Senator Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa marks 6th year of his administration with the 2021 Delta State Praise and Thanksgiving Day at the main bowl of Stephen Keshi International Stadium, Asaba, today, Deltans have expressed joy that they did not make mistake in electing him as Governor in 2015.
Some of those who spoke with Fidelis Egugbo include former Deputy Governor of the state, Chief (Sir) Benjamin Elue, renowned politician, Chief Godwill Obielum, the Executive Assistant on Health Monitoring to Governor Okowa, Dr. (Pharm.) Nelson Ejakpovi, among others, expressed gratitude to God for sending Senator Okowa to the state as Governor.
Former Deputy Governor of Delta, Chief Benjamin Elue said, “I am the chief enthusiast for our Governor to finish strong; he has made Anioma people proud and can be rightly described as an Anioma star.
“He has done very well as a Governor and has made his mark in Nigerian politics as a result-oriented person.
“He is still very young and still have a lot to offer to our state and our country; we are praying that the remaining two years to hand over the baton of leadership should be rancour free.
“Anioma people are peace loving; even our dress code shows that we are peaceful and respected people.”
Also, a renowned political leader in Delta, Chief Godwill Obielum, described the six years administration of Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta State as impactful.
Speaking in Asaba, Delta State, Chief Obielum said, “yes, Governor Okowa has recorded a lot of successes in governance.
“The last six years have been impactful in several areas, empowerment of our people across the state and in the area of provision of infrastructure, he has done very well.
“We congratulate him for the peace and unity we enjoy as a people, we pray that the next two years will be more successful.”
To the Special Project Director, Asaba International Airport, Hon. Austine Ayemidejo, Governor Okowa six years in office is “Very wonderful; he has touched every nook and cranny of the state that every Deltan can feel the vibes of good governance.
“All that we need is to continue to support him because, Deltans have benefitted immensely from the SMART Agenda of Senator Dr Ifeanyi Okowa in terms of healthcare delivery, infrastructure, job creation and good governance .
To the immediate past Commissioner for Works, Chief James Augoye, “We thank God on behalf of our Governor for a successful six years in office.
“Six years is not a joke and his achievements are evident to all; Deltans should should continue to support him and pray for him.”
Dr. (Pharm.) Nelson Ejakpovi, the Executive Assistant to Governor Okowa on Health Monitoring, said, “Governor Okowa has done fantastically well.
“We are happy that the choice we made in 2015 was not wrong; he has shown good leadership, he has shown compassion and he has been able to lead the party equitably well.
“Governor Okowa has added so much value to our topography that almost all the villages now look like urban towns; our landscape has changed whether in the creeks and other hinterlands.
“In my place, Isoko, the dual carriage way has changed the looks of our communities, we are very proud of him and it is our prayers that God will continue to intervene in the affairs of Delta.”
To Comrade Ken Nwaomucha, Chairman, Delta State Football Association, “Governor Okowa has revived competitive sports in the state to the extent that our football teams, and our athletes are always fit and ready to compete in sports events.
“We are so confident in ourselves based on what our Governor has done to the extent that we also, come out victorious in our outings. ”
The 2021 Delta State Praise and Thanksgiving Day, in commemoration of the 6th anniversary of the Senator (Dr.) Ifeanyi Okowa administration, scheduled for the main bowl of Stephen Keshi International Stadium, Asaba, today.
The Chairman of the Organizing Committee of the ceremony, Mr. Patrick Ukah, in a statement in Asaba, stated that all necessary logistics needed to hold a successful event have been put in place as the entire stadium in general, and the main bowl in particular, is wearing a different look.
Mr. Ukah disclosed that notable local and international gospel artists such as Mercy Chinwo, Paul Nams, Sinachi, Nkechi Chukwura, Chioma Jesus, Tim Godfrey, Testimony Jaga and Sonnie Badu, as well as the General Overseer of Dunamis Gospel International Centre, Pastor Paul Enenche, who will be the Guest Speaker, are already in Asaba for the ceremony.
In addition, Delta State Mass Choir will be on ground to add extra colour to the ceremony, just as there will be a drama presentation by Glory of God Concept, the Committee Chairman revealed.
According to Mr. Ukah, as part of the activities lined up for the day, Senator Okowa, will be presented with the winner’s golden trophy won by Team Delta contingent at the Edo 2020 National Sports Festival held in Benin City, Edo State, in April this year and also receive the hosting right flag presented to the state by the Federal Ministry of Youths and Sports having won the hosting right for the next National Sports Festival scheduled for 2022.
He said the event is in fulfilment of a solemn promise made by Senator Okowa on the day of his inauguration as Governor of the state to always acknowledge the hand of the Almighty God in the affairs of Delta State.
Meanwhile, the Organizing Committee of the ceremony has said that some roads are to be closed to traffic on that day.
The roads are entrance to Nnebisi Road from SLOT, Studio 24 Road, Ebenuwa Street, MFM Road, behind stadium, and Tom Halim Street.
Others are entrance to Nnebisi Road from Gallant Chi Chi Drive, Nwokobia Street, Nwabueze Lane and Austin Iyeh Lane all around AGGS area.
Mr. Ukah stated that the closure of the roads is to allow for a hitch free ceremony as very important dignitaries are expected to attend the event, adding that all COVID-19 protocols will be strictly adhered to during the ceremony.
