THE Old Aguata Union has called on political parties participating in the forthcoming Governorship election in Anambra state to select their candidates from Anambra South Senatorial Zone.
The Union in a communique issued in Awka and read by its Secretary, Sir. Uche Chiadi, noted that the State has enjoyed political stability occasioned by the zoning political arrangement.
The Union aligned itself with the decision of major stakeholders in the State including the Elders Council, Anambra Chapter of Ohaneze Ndigbo and the State Traditional Rulers Council in adopting zoning arrangement as permanent policy for succession to the Governorship seat of Anambra State.
It observed that Anambra Association of Town Unions, ASATU and Ohaneze Ndigbo Anambra State have been adopting zoning arrangement as a way of guaranteeing unity, peaceful Co- existence and development as well as eliminate disunity, rancour, acrimony and bitterness.
The Communique stressed that Anambra South Senatorial district presently parade eminently qualified, capable, experienced and dynamic Governorship aspirants where the best is expected to emerge as candidates for the November Governorship election.
Fielding questions from newsmen, the National President of the Union, Professor Iheanacho Orajaka, said the zoning arrangement is a collective decision for overall interest of the State.
