THE Anglican Communion, Diocese of Awka, Anambra State, has asked its members not to joke with the November 6, 2021 governorship poll in the state.
It charged them to make voting in the election a priority by securing their voter’s cards.
The Archbishop of the Ecclesiastical Province of Niger who doubles as the Bishop of Diocese of Awka, Most Rev. Alexander Ibezim, made this known in his charge presented during the 2nd season of the 12th Synod of the Diocese.
The synod was themed: “Expanding Our Ministerial Coast: Implication For The Ordained And The Laity.”
While asking members to get their voter card for the poll, the Bishop said they should not play with the election.
Said he: “According to the Independent National Electoral Commission’s timetable, the Anambra gubernatorial election will be held on Saturday, 6th November,2021.
“We encourage you to go get your permanent voters’ card and ensure you vote wisely. Your vote is your voice, make this voting a priority. We trust the Lord to give us His choice as the Governor of Anambra State .
While commending the State Governor, Chief Willie Obiano for building an international cargo/passenger airport in the state, the Bishop reminded him that most roads in State were bad.
The Archbishop said, “We are happy on the success already recorded at the Anambra International Cargo Airport, Umueri.
“We congratulate the the Governor on this landmark achievement. The Governor’s prompt payment of salaries and allowances of workers need to be commended.
“We still urge him to ensure completion of the reconstruction of so many roads that are really in bad condition.
Bishop Ibezim noted that serious efforts should be made to enhance security apparatus for peaceful environment in Anambra and other South-East States.”
