To cater for the spiritual needs of Catholics and Christians living at Amachai, Okpanam, Oshimili North Local Government Area of Delta State, the Catholic Bishop of Issele-Uku Diocese, Most Revd Dr Michael Odogwu Elue, has approved the use of Maris Schools as a Mass Centre.
The Catholic Priest of St. Raphael’s Catholic Church, Okpanam, Rev. Fr. Andrew Mozia, made the disclosure to the management of Maris Schools.
According to him, following several requests by Catholics and Christians for them to have a place nearby for them to attend the Holy Mass, he informed Bishop Elue about the development who approved the use of Maris Schools as a Mass Centre.
He said, “to the glory of God Almighty, I wish to inform you that our dear Bishop, His Lordship, Bishop Elue has graciously approved Maris Schools as a Mass Centre.
“By the grace of God, the first Mass will be celebrated on Sunday, November 10, 2024 at 8.30 am.
“Kindly inform the Catholic Community and Christians in the area for them to join us in worshipping the Almighty God.”
Reacting on behalf of the Management of Maris Schools, Fidelis Egugbo, said that it was a good development and thanked the Priest for his efforts, stating that “the essence of life is to make the world a better place and to serve God by serving humanity.”
The Catholic Community at Amachai have received the news with joy as among other benefits, bringing a Mass Centre closer to them will save them the cost of transportation and the risk involved in going to distant places to attend the Holy Mass.
