Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon Sheriff Oborevwori, has described the books unveiled by Cecilia Ibru as books that serve not only as records of her legacy but also as a blueprint for leadership, vision, and service.
Governor Oborevwori stated this on Saturday during the launching of Dr. (Mrs) Cecilia Ibru Books, Titled; Cecilia: An Autobiography and Oceanic Odyssey, at Shell Hall Onikan Lagos State.
Oborevwori who was represented by his Chief Economic Adviser, Dr. Barry Gbe, noted that, Cecilia’s autobiography was more than a personal narrative, adding that it was a testimony of perseverance, leadership, and impact while the Oceanic Odyssey, on the other hand, was a chronicle of a banking revolution.
According to him; “It is with great pleasure and a deep sense of honour that I stand before you today to celebrate a distinguished daughter of Delta State and an icon of the Nigerian financial sector, Dr. (Mrs.) Cecilia Ibru, as she unveils her two remarkable books— Cecilia: An Autobiography and Oceanic Odyssey,
“Books, they say, are the windows to history, wisdom, and legacy. Through them, we gain insight into the triumphs, trials, and transformations cf individuals and institutions.
“Today, these books offer us an invaluable opportunity to journey through the life and experiences of a woman whose name is synonymous with resilience, excellence, and innovation in Nigeria’s banking industry.”
“Cecilia: An Autobiography is more than just a personal narrative; it is a testimony of perseverance, leadership, and impact. It gives us a glimpse into the making of an extraordinary woman, a banker, a philanthropist, a mentor, and a force of nature. Her story will no doubt inspire future generations, especially women, to break barriers and make their mark on history.”
Governor Oborevwori added; “Oceanic Odyssey, on the other hand, is a chronicle of a banking revolution.
“It tells the story of Oceanic Bank. an institution that grew under her leadership into one of Nigeria’s foremost financial giants.
“This book is a vital resource for anyone who seeks to understand the evolution of the Nigerian banking sector and the bold decisions that shaped its trajectory.”
Governor Oborevwori while asserting that, Dr. Cecilia Ibru’s contributions to Nigeria’s economy, education, and philanthropy cannot be overstated, said; “She has touched lives, built institutions, and inspired many.
“These books serve not only as a record of her legacy but also as a blueprint for leadership, vision, and service.”
The governor who expressed satisfaction that Delta State was celebrating the moment with immense pride for producing yet another trailblazer whose story will be told to generations, said; “I encourage everyone here to read these books, learn from them, and apply their lessons in your various fields of endeavour.”
Governor Oborevwori who congratulated Dr. Cecilia Ibru, for sharing her journey with the people, thanked her for her unwavering commitment to excellence and nation building.
