DELTA State Commissioner for Trade and Investments, Hon. Chika Ossai has urged chairmen of local government councils to take the building of markets serious.
Speaking at the inauguration Owa-Alizomor Community Market in Ika North-East Local Government Area, Delta State, Ossai stated that the socio-economic benefits of having modern markets cannot be quantified.
He observed that due to the Importance of markets, the Governor Ifeanyi Okowa administration has continued to intervene by assisting in the construction of markets, despite the fact that it is the constitutional responsibility of local government councils to do so.
He urged the people of Ika North-East to ensure that facilities in the market are maintained, adding that the market should also be kept clean.
Chairman of the local government council, Barr. Victor Eboka thanked Governor Okowa for providing conducive atmosphere for local government areas to thrive.
He assured that he will continue to execute development projects based on the needs of the people.
Chairman of the Traditional Rulers Council in the state and Obi of Owa, HRM Emmanuel Effeizormor II, thanked for the timely construction of the market, which according to him, will help decongest the over-populated Ebu-Owa market.
While in the area, Hon. Ossai also, inspected on-going works at Aloshimi Modern Market and Boji Boji International Market.
