“The local government Chairman, Hon. Vincent Osilonya had imposed a 7.00 pm to 6.00 am daily curfew following the recent crisis in Aboh, the headquarters of the local government area after thorough consultations with security agencies in response to the violence that broke out during the procession of Igbu new entrants which resulted in the death of an indigene and severe injuries to several other indigenes.

“The Chairman is by this medium, calling for sustained peace in the community and urges everyone to go about their lawful and economic activity in peaceful manner while maintaining public order.

“The Chairman, expresses his gratitude to the good people of Ndokwa East for their continued cooperation and assured them of his unwavering commitment to their wellbeing.

“The Chairman also commended the security agencies for their dedication to duty and called for continued collaboration between members of the community and the security agencies to ensure that there is security of lives and property in not just Aboh but across the entire Ndokwa East local government area,” the statement read.

When contacted about the development, Chief Charles Ogbotobo, the Ochia Agha of Aboh Kingdom who was among those who were inducted into Igbu on the day the crisis erupted, said that it was unfortunate that an indigene of Aboh lost his life.

He said, “what we abhor in Aboh is death of any of our sons or daughters in controversial circumstances; we celebrate success and since the formal presentation of Staff of Office to our King, His Imperial Majesty Obi Gregory Oputa III, the Obi of Aboh, we have been recording successes in several areas, but what happened that led to the imposition of the curfew was an unfortunate incident.

“We gathered that the Police have arrested some persons as a result of what happened and while we hope that the law takes it course, I implore our people to show love to one another, we should live in peace, we have a King who desires a peaceful Kingdom to enable him and his Council-of-Chiefs speedily develop Aboh for it to reclaim its pride of place among Kingdoms in the world..”
