Leading public transporter and stalwart of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, in Ika South Local Government Area of Delta State, Comrade Dennis Araro , has aligned with the defection of the state Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, and other key leaders of the party in the state to the All Progressives Congress, APC.
He said it was necessary because of the persistent crisis in the PDP at the national level, as well as the need to consolidate the already warm relationship which the Governor and his administration had with the Presidency led by Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu-,of the APC.
Araro,in a brief media chat by phone from Abuja, said the action of the governor was not only wise but timely.
According to him, while the action depicted the foresight of Oborevwori in the light of the internecine crisis in the PDP at the national level, the timing was most apt as it would give him ample opportunity to integrate into the new party.
He claimed that the move was the decision of the governor and his predecessor in office, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, whom he described as a dependable leader and mentor.
Araro described the move as a bold step that would ensure victory for the party in 2027.
According to him,the ability of the governor to mobilise every reckonable member of the PDP in the state into the APC had shown his deep political reach.
Araro equally had words of commendation for other defectors, including the immediate past governor of the state and the party ‘ s vice presidential candidate in the 2023 general polls,
Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, for buying into the idea and for queueing behind the governor.
The renowned transporter expressed the hope that the defection of the governor, which would be formalized on Monday, would consolidate the relationship between the state and the presidency which, he said, had been bearing remarkable fruits for the state.
He held that the permeable membrane approach of the governor to partisan politics was responsible for the warmth in the relationship between the Presidency and the state Governor and his administration.
Araro said the relationship had been beneficial to the State, and sought its sustenance.
He called on Deltans to sustain their support for the Oborevwori administration, especially now that there is political symmetry between the state government and the APC led Federal Government.
It would recalled that Oborevwori and his predecessor, Senator Okowa, and their legion followers, on Wednesday in Asaba, defected to the APC, along with the entire structure of the PDP in the state
