A renowned businessman cum politician, Dr. (Pharm.) Nelson Eseoghene Ejakpovi has said Deltans got it right by choosing Senator (Dr.) Arthur Ifeanyi Okowa as their governor.
Ejakpovi in an interview, said, governance is about choosing the right man to do the job.
According to him, the activities of Governor Okowa since he assumed office in 2015 have distinguished him as someone who possesses the template of what he wants to do for the people.
“I will tell you that as a Deltan, we got it right in the last five years.
“We have got a manager who is determined to serve the people, who understands the problems of the people, who is selfless; a man who understands the job and the challenges ahead.
“In America, there is a question that is often asked if one is running for a political office, ‘is he ready for Leadership?’
“Ready for leadership and governance is the ability to understand the problems of the people.
“In medicine, the ability to resolving a medical condition is an attribute of proper diagnosis; when a diagnosis is right, remedy becomes effective.
“In the same vein, Deltans got it right in the last five years by electing Senator (Dr.) Arthur Ifeanyi Okowa as the governor; we elected a man who understands our fundamental problems as a people, a man who understands the challenges of Delta State and knows how to approach with a view to proffer solutions.
“He had in times past played supportive roles in various capacities of appointments to help build Delta State until Devine Providence bestowed him Leadership to pilot the affairs of the State; of course, he has shown capacity and competence to lead.
“With the pace he has set, I urge Deltans to sustain this tempo by ensuring that we all support the governor, give him the atmosphere to develop and advance the state further.
“We should remain focused and collectively contribute our quotas to building a virile state,” Ejakpovi who is the Executive Assistant to the governor on Health Monitoring said.
He listed some of the achievements of Governor Okowa to include, making the state peaceful and boosting the confidence of investors which has made some oil companies that left the state to return, providing health facilities within the reach and disposal of the people through well equipped health facilities and the Contributory Health Insurance Scheme, massive road construction in all parts of the state, construction of a new and improved secretariat to house all Ministries, Departments and Agencies that are in rented apartments, ensuring a functional airport that is of international standard, among others.
