Nigeria’s former Ambassador to Sierra Leone, Godson Echegile, on Tuesday, paid a condolence visit to a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Chief Godwill Obielum on the loss of his mother, Mrs Victoria Ossai Obielum.

Ambassador Echegile was received at Chief Obielum’s residence in Asaba, Delta State.

During the visit, Ambassador Echegile urged Chief Obielum and his siblings to take solace in the fact that the right thing is for children to bury their parents and not the other way round.

“Obviously, she lived an impactful life with the stories we have heard about her and the children and grand children she left behind that are doing well in different fields of life.

“It is expected that children should bury their parents and not for parents to bury their children, so, you should take solace in the fact that your mother lived to the age of 87 before she passed on, she saw her children become adults, saw her grand children and great-grand children.

“Kindly accept our condolences and be assured of our prayers always,” Ambassador Echegile said.

Responding, Chief Obielum thanked Ambassador Echegile for the visit and told him that though, no date has been fixed for the burial, he would be informed when such is done.

At the occasion, prayers were offered for the deceased and the family that she left behind.
