Delta State Deputy Governor, Sir Monday Onyeme, FCA, has urged communities in the state to always encourage their Local Government Council Chairmen to bring out their best.
Onyeme observed that the Council Chairmen and other political officers would do more when they are appreciated for executing people -oriented programmes.
The Deputy Governor spoke on Saturday at Obiaruku when Umuedede sons and daughters honoured their son, Hon. Barr. Possible Ajede, the Chairman, Ukwuani Local Government Area, Delta State.
The Deputy Governor commended the people for organizing the reception for the Council Chairman, noting that it would spur him to do more.

“Our Council Chairman, Hon. Bar. Possible Ajede, has done very well in addressing the needs of his people and ensuring development and infrastructural growth to the various communities; you don’t need to mention them to me because I am aware of things that he has done and what he is still doing for Ukwuani people as Council Chairman.
“His desire to make Ukwuani to be peaceful is most desirable and the state government is very much aware of his efforts in ensuring peace in the area.
“I commend you for organizing this reception, it shows that the electorate is watching keenly the activities of those in office and this way of saying thank you to those who are performing will spur them to do more.
“As a state government, I want to assure you that, we will provide all that is necessary for him and other council Chairmen to succeed in the task of bringing the needed development to our people.
“Popular opinions about politics is that, it is all about interest, but all I see Hon. Ajede doing is working for the people of Ukwuani and I urge him to keep it up.
“I am happy with the remarks of the people of Ukwuani and I appeal to them to continue to encourage him so that he will continue to do more for the people.
“As a people and as Deltans, I urge you to continue to support the government of Delta State and I want to assure you that next year will be better than this year; you will see more of the MORE Agenda in terms of Infrastructural and human capital development in all nooks and crannies of Delta State,” Sir Onyeme said.
Earlier, in an address presented on behalf of Umuedede sons and daughters, Chief Godwin Iyemere, noted that, Hon. Possible Ajede is a remarkable individual and a leader whose presence as council Chairman has shaped the destiny of Ukwuani Local Government and has left indelible marks on the heart of his people.
He noted that, the Council Chairman has been a beacon of hope in times of uncertainty and a source of inspiration for all who call Ukwuani a home.
“One of his most admirable qualities is his unwavering commitment to the welfare of his people as seen in his recent visit to various farm roads in Ukwuani in a bid to have a first-hand knowledge of the welfare of farmers and also distribute farm equipment which is the first of its kind in the history of Ukwuani Local Government”. Chief Iyemere noted.
