In a separate interview with the Odogwu of Abala kingdom, Chief Dr. Christopher Iwale, he pleaded with the government of Delta State to come to the aid of the Abala people, who had through self-help, evacuated about 70 per cent of the inhabitants trapped in the community, sending about 30 per cent to emergency IDP camps.

According to the Odogwu, the community had been taking charge of the wellbeing of victims, till date, recalling the press release by Ndokwa East local government that Abala kingdom recorded the highest ratio of flood destruction in terms of agricultural farm produce and household displacement.
