REV. Fr.  Hilary Ibegbulem has urged Christians to obey the word of God and labour more for things that will make them have eternal life.

The Priest gave the charge on Sunday while delivering a Homily at the Catholic Church of the Ascension,  Asaba,  Delta State.

He noted that if the people could spend as much time for spiritual things, enduring things than physical things, perishable things, it will be of more benefits to them and the world will also, fare better.

“We should work for those things that will make us gain eternal life; that should be our focus, that is our aim in life.

“Our Lord Jesus Christ has made it clear that spiritual food builds us spiritually.

“We should not labour for things that perishes, but labour for things that will make us gain eternal life.

“He made it clear that man does not live by bread alone, but that, we should concentrate on food that will make us gain eternal life.

“Jesus tells us, ‘do not labour for the food that perish but food that endures.’

“How much efforts do we put for our spiritual well-being? If we apply the same efforts that we apply for our physical well-being to our spiritual well-being,  we will fare better, and work harder for eternal life.”

He prayed for Christians to have the grace to work for things that will make them gain eternal life.

The Holy Mass featured a lot of thanksgiving by the parishioners including that of a Councillor in Oshimili South Local Government Area,  Hon. Ifeanyi Okokoba which was attended by political bigwigs including Alanza Uche Ugboma.
