CATHOLIC Bishops’ Conference of Nigeria (CBCN), Onitsha Ecclesiastical Province, has appointed Rev. Fr. Dr. Fabian Chinwuba Obi as the Acting Rector of the Provincial-owned Blessed Iwene Tansi Major Seminary, Onitsha, Anambra State.
The appointment of Fr. Obi, a Priest of the Catholic Diocese of Awka, was necessitated due to the expiration of the tenure of the outgoing Rector of the Seminary, Rev. Fr. Emmanuel Dim, a Priest of the Catholic Diocese of Ekwulobia.
According to the letter signed by Rev. Fr. Dim, and made available to the press, the CBCN, Onitsha Province, after a meeting held with the resident formators of the Seminary on Tuesday, October 6, 2020, announced the appointment of Rev Fr Dr Fabian Obi, of the Catholic Diocese of Awka, as the Rector.
While Rev. Fr. Dr. Alfred Okeakpu of the Catholic Archdiocese of Onitsha, as the Vice Rector of the Major Seminary, respectively.
Rev. Fr. Obi in the letter, congratulated the acting Rector and his Vice on their appointments and prayed all to support them in their new Apostolate, which according to him, was demanding.
The new Rector, Fr. Obi, in his telephone chat with our correspondent, called for prayers for him and the Seminary family.
He said his focus would be to ensure that the seminarians were prepared in the best ways, according to the mind of the Church, to become better priests after the mind of Jesus Christ.
