IT was funfair on Tuesday as renowned political tactician, Chief Godwill Obielum marked the anniversary of his birth at his residence in Asaba, Delta State.
In what some of those present at the event dubbed, “celebration of God’s gift to humanity,” most political office holders and upcoming politicians thronged his residence to sing his praises and to thank God for preserving him.
Chairman, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Delta North, Mr Moses Iduh, former President of the Ndokwa Neku Union (NNU), Pharm. Paul Enebeli, President-General of Isoko Development Union (IDU), High Chief Iduh Amadhe, Commissioner for Trade and Investment, Hon. Chika Ossai, Commissioner for Works, Chief James Augoye, Barr. Sam Osasa, Prince Mike Oputa of Local Government Service Commission, Mr Ikechukwu Akozo of the Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (DESOPADEC), Special Assistant to Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta State, Comrade Fidelis Egugbo, among other dignitaries were on hand to celebrate Chief Obielum.
Deputy Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Christopher Ochor Ochor, in a goodwill message, said, “On this special day, I appreciate you, as you have exhibited uncommon wisdom, remarkable vision, and exemplary leadership in Ndokwa affairs, and Delta in general.
“While congratulating you, I appeal that you should continue to exhibit that uncommon leadership style which had overtime garvernized our people to continue to seek the dividends of democracy.
“On behalf of my family, my staff, and political associates, I wish you peace, good health, and happiness, as you celebrate today.
“May you have many more years and sound health to stay with us and continue to lead!”
Chief Amadhe at the occasion, disclosed that though, he was in Asaba to visit the Police in relation to issues affecting Isoko nation, he had to stop over at Obielum’s residence because, he “is the political leader of Ndokwa nation.”
He stated, “Chief Obielum, I am here to tell you that the Isokos and Ndokwa nations are brothers and sisters to you.
“Ndokwa must be greater that it is today, Chief Obielum is a mentor, and a political leader to a lot of persons and we pray that you continue to celebrate in Jesus name.”
Also, the Executive Assistant, Youth Development to Governor Ifeanyi Okowa, Hon. Nnamdi Ezechi, said, “today, I join millions of people worldwide to celebrate a leader, a father and a grassroot generalissimo, our maximum leader, Chief Godwill Obielum.”
Ezechi thanked God for the blessings of a new age laced with greater grace for Chief Obielum and also, prayed that his dreams and wishes come true as he celebrates.
Senior Special Assistant to Governor Okowa on Youth Development, Prince Emeka Osamuta, had in a message, said, “the mark of a true visionary is his ability to imagine the future and act on it, yielding great results in the process and then using this success for the benefit of others.
“Indeed you are not just a leader but a father whose priority is to watch his children grow.
“Chief Godwill Obielum, thank you for your mentorship and allowing yourself to be used as a vessel for young politicians to actualize their dreams.
“I hold you in high esteem and proudly can say you are a respcted leader, because of the special heart I know you have.
“My birthday wishes for you are a heart that never know sorrows but boundless joy, and a life that is full of immeasurable doses of daily happiness.
“On behalf of my family, supporters and from the depth of our hearts, we say God bless you and a happiest birthday Sir.”
Comrade Enudu Marcus, simply said, “please join me to celebrate our true leader, Chief Godwill Obielum.
“As you celebrate your birthday today and always Sir, òsa ife òma shini Eka Chukwu Abame bu kei ni Efa Jesu.
Iseh.”
Comrade Egugbi stated, “Chief Obielum is a political guru who is an exemplary leader.
“He is a leader who is living his name, Godwill.
“As he celebrates, we pray that God will always give him reasons to celebrate, give him the heart to always open his doors even to his opponents, grant him good health and the wisdom to continue to weather the challenges of life through Christ our Lord. Amen. ”
Highpoint of the celebration was Chief Obielum cutting his birthday cake accompanied by his wife, Julia and dancing with different cultural groups that spiced the event.
