THE Prefect Emeritus of the Congregation for Divine Worship and the Discipline of the Sacraments, His Eminence, Francis Cardinal Arinze, has listed ways Christians can prepare for Christmas.
In a homily on Sunday, to mark the first Sunday of Advent at Madonna Catholic Parish, Nnobi, Idemili South Local Government Area of Anambra State, Cardinal Arinze, said Advent gives Christians the opportunity to prepare themselves for the Coming of Christ, which will also happen at the end of the world.
He urged the faithful to always be prepared through attending Masses, especially on Sundays and if possible on every other day, go for confession and receive the Holy Communion, at least during this season and to always read the Bible and other spiritual books.
The 88-year-old Cleric, also said, Christians should prepare for Christmas by engaging in good works, praying fervently at all times and bearing true witness to Christ in whatever they do, whatever they say and wherever they find themselves.
He later appreciated the Parish Priest of Madonna Catholic Church, Nnobi, Revd Fr John Bosco Igboka and the people of Nnobi town for their deep Christian faith, having produced about 64 Catholic Priests, the highest number in Onitsha Archdiocese.
Prominent indigenes of Nnobi town and officials of the Anambra State government, including the Commissioner for Education, Professor Kate Omenugha, graced the occasion.
Highlight of the event was the administration of the Sacrament of Confirmation on fifty candidates.
