THE Delta State House has confirmed the nomination of the Former Head of Service, Sir Okey Ofili, as the Chairman, Delta State Public Procurement Council.
Others also confirmed by the House are Mr. Edwin Eruno Abraka, a retired Permanent Secretary in the state and Mr. Okezi Odugula as members of the Public Procurement Council.
The trio of Sir Okey Ofili, Mr. Edwin Eruno Abraka and Mr. Okezi Odugula had appeared on the floor of the House for screening in line with the law establishing the Delta State Public Procurement Council.
The nominees were introduced by the various lawmakers representing their constituencies in the House.
They include, Hon Shedrack Rapu, Oshimili South, for Sir Okey Ofili, Innocent Anidi, Ethiope East, for Mr. Edwin Eruno Abraka and Hon Kenneth Ogba, Isoko South One, for Mr. Okezi Odugula.
Lawmakers at the plenary presided over by the Speaker, Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori critically screened the nominees before they were asked to take a bow and leave the hallowed chamber.
The appointments were confirmed sequel to a motion by the Majority Leader, Hon Tim Owhefere, seconded by the Deputy Majority Leader, Oboro Preyor and adopted.
Meanwhile, the leadership and members of the Delta State House of Assembly have commiserated with the Ogbabunor family of Udu over the death of Chief Austin Ogbabunor.
The Speaker, Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori, at plenary, prayed God to grant the soul of the former federal Lawmaker eternal rest and enjoined members to participate actively in the rites of passage as announced by the family.
The Member Representing Udu Constituency, Hon Peter Uviejitobor had at Wednesday’s plenary of the house, brought to the notice of the State Legislature of the demise of Chief Austin Ogbabunor.
Coming under the item, “Personal Explanation”, Hon Uviejitobor informed the house that Chief Ogbabunior died on the 25th June 2020.
He said Service of Songs in honour of the former federal lawmaker has been scheduled for Friday, 31st July while he will be buried on Saturday, 1st of August 2020.
Hon Uviejitobor enjoined his colleagues to be a part of the scheduled events to accord their last respect to the late Member of the National Assembly.
Chief Austin Ogbabunior represented Ughelli North, Ughelli South and Udu federal Constituency between 2011 and 2015 in the House of Representatives
