Anambra State residents have been advised not allow themselves to become infected with COVID-19 before they believe that the virus is real.
The State Director of the National Orientation Agency (NOA), Mr. Charles Nworji, gave the advice during an interview in Awka.
Mr. Nworji a lawyer, noted that the NOA in Anambra State, started a sustainable campaign on COVID-19 prevention on first February, when many citizens of the State have no knowledge of the pandemic.
He explained how the Agency sent out its field officers to schools and various communities to liaise with their management to enlighten people on a strange disease that is finding its way to Nigeria, when no case was yet reported in the country.
Mr. Nworji called on the people to abandon their cynicism about COVID-19 saying that people who want to become victims before they believe, may probably not be alive to tell the story.
He noted that such attitude is not only condemnable but frightening noting that the disease is real and has killed and is still killing people.
Speaking on the federal government’s recent lifting of Inter-State boundary lockdown, Mr. Nworji said the Federal government only reacted to the demands of the Nigerian masses.
He emphasized on the need for people to tread with caution in order not to counter the achievements made during the lockdown in halting level of transmission of the virus.
