The Chairman, Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Ndokwa West Local Government Chapter, Ogbuefi Lucky Okuji, has said that members of the party should not go to sleep following the victory of the Governor of Delta State, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori at the Supreme Court.
According to him, there should be no room for opposition political parties in the state and those who are in opposition should be wooed back to the PDP where they were before moving to other political parties.
Ogbuefi Okuji spoke in Asaba on Tuesday morning.
He said, “we are happy that God gave us victory at the polls and at the judiciary, but it is painful that those who are challenging us as a party were members of our great party, the PDP at a time.
“There is no doubt that Delta is PDP, PDP is Delta State but we should not rest on our oars, we should not give room for dissenting voices, the last elections shows that opposition political parties are gradually inching into our state and we should not allow that, we should work harder to remain united as members of one great political family, every Deltan should be a member of the PDP as it were.
“All those who are in opposition political parties were members of the PDP and now that our Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori has been affirmed as the duly elected Governor of Delta State, we should work harder to bring them back, it should be operation bring back every Deltan to the fold, in politics, the more the merrier.”
Ogbuefi Okuji congratulated Governor Oborevwori and his Deputy, Sir Monday Onyeme, FCA, for their electoral victories at the polls and at the judiciary.
“As Deltans, we are all aware that God is with us and we knew that they will emerge victorious, it is just unfortunate that those we dine with due to ego, had to explore all the windows provided by democracy which was unnecessary bearing in mind that the election was supposed to be a brotherly game, now that they have lost and have come out to congratulate our Governor, we expect them to also return to our party for us to always speak with one voice and collectively, develop our state.
“I, on behalf of members of our party in Ndokwa West in particular, congratulate our Governor and his Deputy, Sir Monday Onyeme, FCA, for the victories and we pray that the M.O.R.E. Agenda of advancing Delta State will be delivered to the satisfaction of all Deltans and to the glory of God in Jesus name, amen,” Ogbuefi Okuji said.
