THE Governor of Delta State, Senator Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, his Edo State counterpart, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, were among the dignitaries that witnessed the decoration of recipients of Papal Honours at St. Paul Cathedral, Issele Uku, Aniocha North Local Government Area yesterday.
The Secretary to the Delta State Government (SSG), Chief Patrick Ukah, represented Governor Okowa during the ceremony presided over by the Bishop of Issele Uku Diocese, Most Rev. Dr. Michael Odogwu Elue.
A total of 13 recipients were decorated while two others got post humourous awards.
The recipients were Mr. Patrick Ikemefuna – Knight Commander of St. Sylvester the Pope (KCSS), Sir Okechukwu Ofili and Epiphany C. Azinge (Esq.) were decorated as Knight of St. Gregory the Great (KSG).
Honourable Justice Rosaline Bozimo and Mrs. Henrietta Odume bagged Dame of St . Gregory the Great (DSG), while the honour of knight of St. Sylvester the Pope (KSS) went to Mr. John Okolo and Mr. Joseph Enuezie.
Chief Mrs. Henrietta Ajuebon, Justice Patience Elumeze, Mrs. Carol Enuha and Mrs. Caroline Sotunde were decorated as Dame of St. Sylvester the Pope (DSS), Mother Justina Nwaobi bagged Pro Ecclesia Et Pontificie while Mrs. Onyebuchukwu Nwabude got Benemerenti Medal.
The post humourous awards recipients were Dr. Benedict Chukwumah – Knight of St. Sylvester the Pope (KSS) and Mrs. Elizabeth Okwuadi – Benemerenti Medal.
Highlights of the ceremony were the decoration of the recipients by Bishop Elue and their thanksgiving supported by their families, friends and well wishers.
Among other dignitaries that witnessed the ceremony were the wife of the former National Chairman of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP), Dame Mariam Alli, former Minister, Chief Brodrick Bozimo, retired Bishop of Anglican Diocese of Asaba, Bishop Justus Mogekwu and his wife, Delta State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Isaiah Bozimo (Esq.) and the State Head of Service (HoS), Mr. Reginald Bayoko.
