DELTA Governor, Sen. (Dr.) Ifeanyi Okowa has congratulated renowned politician and statesman, Chief Ighoyota Amori, on his birthday.
According to a statement signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Olisa Ifeajika, on Friday in Asaba, the governor noted that Amori is an accomplished leader and Chairman, Delta State Capital Territory Development Agency.
He observed that Amori who will be clocking 68 on Saturday, had contributed to the growth and unity of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and development of Delta.
Governor Okowa commended the gifted politician fondly called “Odidimadi’’ in political circles, for his keen efforts at bridge-building, and described him as “a political strategist and leader with great passion for the development of his Urhobo people of Delta Central Senatorial District.”
He recalled the remarkable contributions of Amori to the development of the state as Commissioner for Education; Water Resources; Senior Political Adviser, and later as Senator representing the people of Delta Central Senatorial District before his tenure was aborted by the court.
“As a staunch party leader, you have remained a respectable voice, bridge-builder and we appreciate you for your consistency and loyalty to our great party.
“On behalf of the Government and people of Delta, I heartily rejoice with a great leader and elder statesman, a reputable and reliable political ally, Chief Ighoyota Amori JP, as he celebrates his 68th birth anniversary.
“I am pleased to join your family, political associates and other well-wishers in thanking God for blessing you with strength and wisdom to serve our people.
“It is our prayer that God will continue to protect you and grant you good health to render more services to mankind,” Okowa said.
