AS Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. (Elder) Sheriff Oborevwori receives the Thisday/Arise TV Governor of the Year Award today, Deltan have celebrated the governor, describing the development as a testimony of his tremendous and transformative delivery of the dividends of democracy to the people oft he state.
Those who spoke to The Pointer were of the opinion that the award is an affirmation that the impact of Governor Oborevwori’s MORE Agenda is being felt in the state.
The Deputy Governor of Delta State, Sir Monday Onyeme, described the award being conferred on the Governor as well-deserved.
The Deputy Governor, in a statement signed by the Senior Special Assistant, Media, Comrade Fidelis Egugbo disclosed that Sir Onyeme expressed
joy that in less than two years of being in office, the success story of the administration of Rt. Hon. Oborevwori is reverberating in all parts of the country and earning him awards.

our amiable Governor for bagging THE ThisDay/Arise TV Governor of the Year 2024 Award based on his laudable
achievements in the area of education, infrastructural development, people centered projects, and purposeful
governance.

years, imagine what Delta will be in the next six years.

Meanwhile, the State Commissioner for Economic Planning, Mr. Sonny Ekedayen expressed his delight and pride that Governor Oborevwori’s achievements has been recognised beyond the State.
He believes this acknowledgment will
motivate the Governor to continue working tirelessly for the betterment of Deltans. Ekedayen emphasized that the Governor’s accomplishments are a testament to his dedication to the people of Delta State, and he encouraged everyone to support him.
Also, the Chairman, Delta State Traffic Management Authority (DESTMA), Chief Peter Idion has applauded
Governor Sheriff Oborevwori on his emergence as Thisday/
Arise TV 2024 man of the year.
Idion, who was speaking in an exclusive interview with The Pointer at Agbor, said Governor Oborevwori truly deserved the award considering the phenomenal achievements recorded by his administration since he came on board as Governor of the state.
He disclosed that Governor Oborevwori had expanded the
frontiers of socio-economic and infrastructural development
in the state, adding that the management of Thisday/Arise TV
were right in their decision to honour Governor Oborevwori
with the 2024 Governor of the year award.
The DESTMA Chairman, therefore, congratulated the Governor for winning the award which, he said, will spur
him for greater accomplishments in the state.
The State Commissioner for Secondary Education, Mrs. Rose Ezewu scribed the award as a testament to the governor’s visionary leadership, dedication to the development of Delta State, and tireless efforts to improve the lives of the people.
She emphasized that the honour is not only well deserved but also a reflection of Governor Oborevwori’s commitment to good governance and impactful service
delivery.
Ezewu highlighted some of the administration’s notable achievements, which have earned the governor national acclaim.
These include ground-breaking reforms in education, health, infrastructure development, and economic empowerment initiatives.
Under his leadership, she said, the state has witnessed remarkable progress, fostering sustainable growth and
creating opportunities for its citizens.
“Governor Oborevwori has consistently demonstrated an unwavering commitment to the welfare of the people of Delta State.
“His people-oriented policies, inclusive
governance style, and relentless pursuit of excellence have set him apart as a leader of great repute,” she said.
The commissioner particularly commended the governor’s efforts in advancing education in the state, noting the ongoing improvements in schools’ infrastructure, teacher training and innovative policies aimed at enhancing the quality of education. In a related development, the Chairman of Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (DESOPADC) and the Aghwemutuwevwi of Idjerhe Kingdom, Olorogun Hon. Barr. John Nani said the award is a true reflection of the Governor’s exceptional leadership qualities, diligence, perspicacity, and dedication towards the growth and development of Delta State.
