The Chairman of Udu Local Government Council, Comrade Vincent Oyibode, has been announced as one of the discussants at this year’s edition of Maris Public Service Lecture.
Secretary, Maris Trust Council (MTC), Comrade Fidelis Egugbo, made the disclosure on Monday in a press release he made available to journalists in Asaba.
Maris Lectures hold every Wednesday before Easter Sunday and for this year’s edition, it shall hold on Wednesday, April 16, 2025 at the Unity Hall, Government House, Asaba at 12 noon.
According to the statement, the choice of Oyibode was borne out of the fact that he is actively engaged in the provision of infrastructure at the grassroots level in line with the topic for discussion which is, “Local Governance and Sustainable Development.”
Sir Patrick Ejidoh, former Managing Director of Champions Breweries will be the Keynote Speaker and already, Delta State Commissioner for Works (Rural Roads) and Public Information, Mr Charles Aniagwu and the Founder of Eagle Heights Properties, Mrs Mabel Magbulu have been announced as discussants.
“The lecture is of three segments, while Sir Patrick Ejidoh will set the pace for the lecture with the Keynote Address on the topic for discussion, a panel of discussants comprising a minimum of four persons and a moderator will take over and after which, the audience will also, make their contributions before the amiable, result -oriented Governor of Delta State, the Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori will sum it up with his speech.
“It is interesting to note that few days to the lecture, people are calling from different parts of the world to know how prepared we are for the lecture, this is very encouraging as it proves that collectively, we can proffer solutions to the challenges of the society.
“By the grace of God, this year’s lecture will be successful and as the day for the lecture draws nearer, we shall keep updating our audience, and intending participants with those who will play key roles at the lecture,” Egugbo said.
Comrade Vincent Oyibody who will discuss the topic with Mr Aniagwu, Mrs Magbulu and other prominent Nigerians is presently, the Chairman, Udu Local Government Council, Delta State.
The President of Orhuwhorun and Chairman, Forum of Community Presidents in Udu Local Government Area, Engr Godspower Uviejitobor, described Comrade Oyibode who goes by the sobriquet of ‘’Ofuerhanre’’, or ‘’Fire Extinguisher’, as someone who first, brought peace to many troubled spots in Udu by resolving many communities’ crisis before embarking on the provision of infrastructure.
Oyibode bagged his first degree in Public Administration at Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma and was at a time, the Commissioner for Oil and Gas in Delta State, a former Youth Leader, Pan Niger Delta Forum (PANDEF), among other positions that he has held that positioned him to be very qualified to discuss “Local Governance and Sustainable Development’ at Maris Lecture 2025.”
