THE Anambra State Police Command has commenced investigations into murder of a landlord through inheritance a 35-year old Nonso Umeadi Oyiboka of Ogidi Ani-Etiti, Idemili North Local Government Area by his 21-year old tenant, Onyemaechi Mmaju of the same address.
A release signed by the Police Public Relations Officer in Anambra State, Mr. Haruna Mohammed (SP), says that on receiving the report, Police operatives attached to the Ogidi Division led by the Divisional Police Officer Mr. Ekuri Remigius visited the scene and rushed the victim who was found in a pool of his blood to Iyienu Mission Hospital Ogidi for medical attention where he was certified dead by the Medical Doctor on arrival.
According to the release the corpse has been deposited at the hospital Mortuary for autopsy.
The release stated, however, that a careful observation on the deceased body revealed stab wound on his back while a blood stained knife allegedly used in perpetrating the act was also recovered as exhibit at the scene.
The Police said in the release, that relevant investigations revealed that the deceased allegedly had a little quarrel over bringing in too many women into the compound that eventually led to a scuffle which resulted to the deceased being stabbed to death.
The release disclosed that the Commissioner of Police in Anambra State, Mr. John Abang has ordered the transfer of the case to the State Criminal Investigation Department for discreet investigation after which the suspect will be charged to court for prosecution.
