Former Governor of Delta State, Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan, CON, the Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Delta State chapter, Michael Osuoza, Ph.D, the Chairman, Maris Trust Council, MTC, Sir Kenneth Olise, Ph.D and Hon. Uche Uraih, Ph.D on Thursday, reacted to the successful defence of doctoral thesis by Lady Rita Egugbo, ACA.
Egugbo, before a panel comprising nine persons led by Prof. Patrick Osiegbu, defended her thesis with the topic, “CAMELS’ Rating And Financial Performance Of FUGAZ Banks in Nigeria” at the Delta State University, Abraka.
Reacting to the successful defence of the thesis which would lead to the award of Doctor of Philosophy Degree, Ph.D. in Finance, former Governor Uduaghan congratulated Egugbo, a lecturer at the Dennis Osadebay University, DOU, for venturing into an area that will strengthen the nation’s financial sector.
Also, Osuoza in a message, said, “Congratulations to Lady Rita Egugbo, Ph.D.
“It was indeed a rite of passage for her and now that she is in the fellowship of the cerebrally initiated, she can now speak the intellectual esoteric language in a guttural voice.
“Welcome to the pantheon of the knowledgeable, Doc.”
Olise, had in his response, said, “I am pleasantly surprised that someone who believed in the motto of Maris Schools, Okpanam, Perseverance Conquers All, has become one of the very few people from Ndokwa land to successfully defend her Ph. D thesis.
“With her background as a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria, ICAN, she deserves all the support to enable her excel in the academic arena; congratulations Lady Rita Egugbo.
Uraih, a Public Affairs Analyst and Dr. Kemi Emina, a lecturer had in their reactions, observed that they were confident in the ability of Egugbo to get her Ph.D in record time.
Emina said, “this is worth celebrating as it is the beginning of more academic laurels.”
The Deputy Vice Chancellor, Dennis Osadebay University, Prof. Robert Dode, in his reaction, said, “congratulations Doctor, it can only get better if we believe and work for it.
“I celebrate with you.”
Kingsley Dike, a former Foreign Affairs Reporter with The Guardian Newspapers and retired United States Army Intelligence Analyst, from Atlanta, Georgia, USA, asserted, “Awesome!! A very big congratulations to Lady Egugbo for her resilience and academic achievement.”
In his reaction, Comrade Fidelis Egugbo, Senior Special Assistant, Media to the Governor of Delta State, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, who is the husband to Lady Egugbo wrote, “My wife, Lady Rita U. Egugbo, through perseverance, in line with the motto of Maris Schools, Okpanam, which is, Perseverance Conquers All, you climbed through the academic ladder as an NCE holder, moved on to bag a Bachelor of Science Degree, a programme that you ran concurrently with your studies to be a Chartered Accountant that earned you membership of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria, ICAN.
“Not satisfied, you went for your Masters of Science Degree from where you took a leap to pluck a Doctorate Degree, Ph.D, of which you successfully, defended your thesis today.
“By His Grace, I can comfortably address you as, Lady Rita U. Egugbo, ACA, Ph.D.
“There is still a lot of hurdles to cross, but with perseverance and relying solely on God Almighty, they will certainly be crossed effortlessly.
“Once again, congratulations Uzoma nwuye Fide!”
Beaming with smile, Lady Egugbo paid glowing tributes to her supervisor, Mrs Anastasia Onuorah, an Associate Professor, Victor Ehiedu (Associate Professor), Casmire Osuji (Associate Professor) and Andrew Erhijakpor (Associate Professor).
She also thanked her course mates, Mr Festus Osakwe, Mr Oziwele Eugene, Mrs Owonye Benedicta, Mrs Oliogu Efemena, Mrs Nwajei Chinelo, Sister Mbagwu Onyinyechi and Mr Asiagwu Paul for the different roles they played for the programme to be successful.
