Some students sitting for the West African School Certificate Examination, WACE, and the University Matriculation Examination, have lamented difficulties in the registering for the National Identification Number (NIN), in Uvwie Local Government Council area of Delta State.

According to them, the registration process was stressful and they had been facing serious hardship.

One of the students who spoke with our correspondent identified herself as Gloria Omoefe, stated that she had been coming for the NIN registrations for over one week but was unable to register.

According to her, NIN registration was one of the criteria required for students to write JAMB and WAEC.

She alleged that staff of the Identity Management Agency in charge of the registration were collecting money from people to fast track their registration, stressing that the NIN registrations was no longer free.

“We are students and we don’t have money to give to anybody to fast track our registration,” she said.

She appealed to the relevant authorities to remove NIN as one of the criteria for students to write JAMB and WAEC, as it would prevent many students from taking the exams due to the difficulties involved in the registration.

Vivian Okoro, another student who spoke to our correspondent, stated that students should be given special consideration in the registration process so that they could meet up with their exams.
