Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori has said that Deltans are happy to be host to institutions of Federal Government.
Governor Oborevwori made the disclosure on Wednesday while playing host to members of the Governing Council and Management of Nigeria Maritime University, Okerenkoko, Warri South-West Local Government Area, led by its Vice Chancellor, Prof Emmanuel Adigio at Asaba.
The governor who was represented by his Deputy, Sir Monday Onyeme, expressed happiness that the faculty building donated by the state government has been completed and commissioned while his administration has also, commenced the construction of road to the permanent site of the university.
He said, “I want to thank you for appreciating what the government of Delta State is doing at the Maritime University.
“As a government, we do not shy away from contributing our quota to the development of federal institution.
“Our people are naturally excited when they see Federal Government projects, we accept them as ours, so, that of Maritime University, Okorenkoko is not an exception.
“We are very happy to be your host, because nobody will see good projects that will be beneficial to the people and the state and will not want to be part of it and we are doing what we are supposed to do as your host.
“I want to assure you that we will continue to do what is expected of us as a government.”
Governor Oborevwori while commending the Governing Council and Management of the University for ensuring effective academic excellence, urged them to give priority to Deltans in terms of employment and other administrative procedures.
Earlier, the Vice Chancellor, Prof Emmanuel Adigio said that the purpose of the visit was to appreciate the state government for its unwavering support and contributions to the university via its MORE agenda.
Prof. Adigio noted that the Delta State government from the inception of the university, has shown immense commitment to its development through various infrastructural projects.
