The longest serving lawmaker in China, Shen Jilan passed on this morning (Sunday, June 28) at the age of 91.
Born in 1921, Shen represented National People’s Congress (NPC) since its formation in 1954, representing the party consecutively for 13 terms.
Newsden.com.ng gathered that Shen, a recipient of Medal of the Republic, who hails from Taihang, a revolutionary base of the Communist Party of China in Shanxi will be remembered for her advocacy for equal pay and the protection of rights of women.
At the age of 79, she was the carrier in the Beijing Olympic torch relay.
